Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Vuka Sprint and my 7800 brifters

So I have the DA group set on my bike and I'm about to buy the Vuka Sprint bar from Zipp

which has internal cable routing if you so choose, plus it looks way better.

I read a thread a little while ago where some people preferred the 7800 over the 7900 brifters. thoughts? should I change or not? would it look silly? Am I giving up anything by switching to the 7900s?

It's largely a matter of preference. The 7900's are shaped different, some people like the hand fit better on one than the other.

The 7900's give you hidden cable routing (but you lose an hand hold for invisible aero bars)

The 7900's by some reports actually do not shift as well as the 7800's, particularly if you don't use Shimano's cables.

Personally, if you like the feel of the 7800's I wouldn't spend the money on a new set of brifters just to get cleaner cable routing.

edit: i'm psyched for these bars. they apparently come in a round OR shallow bend.
i currently have a Rotundo Pro on one bike, and K-Wing Compacts on the other. Maybe this will replace both!

the ones im looking at are shallow...I think Im going to hook it up with my 7800 and see how it looks. I love everything about my group set now. everything shifts perfectly and smoothly and I think it's money better saved for Di2
