Who here is on a training plan?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Who here is on a training plan?

Anyone here on a training plan for cycling, and what is it?

"Instinctive" training, even if it's structured the same as a high quality plan, doesn't count. Looking for folks who have something planned, on paper, mapping out their workouts for the upcoming months, and wondering how they're doing with them.

What works for one person may or may not work for you. That said, I was horrible with structure so I started working with a coach. He tells me what to do week to week based on goals I outline at the begining of the year. For example, right now I'm starting 'cross season doing races every weekend through December:
-Monday: Super easy/recovery
-Tuesday: Off
-Wendesday: Tempo (30min at HR 150-160)
-Thursday: 'Cross practice
-Friday: Super easy or off
-Saturday: 'Cross race -or- long and slow on the road bike
-Sunday: 'Cross race -or- long and slow on the road bike

The question should be who isn't on a training plan? There are probably more on training plans than people without.

I've always had one because I am a person that needs structure to get things done efficiently. Pretty sure a training plan would help almost anyone though.

Professional coaching plan. Look into it in your area or somewhere close by. I personally think it's worth the investment but I'm sure there are plenty of books that you could follow. I just like having something tailored for me personally, my goals and objectives, and my race schedule.

I'm not right now but have trained with a coach quite a bit in the past. I have tried following my own training plans but it never seems to work for me. I am much more likely to follow a plan that I know I paid for, if I don't follow it I just wasted a good chunk of money.

Yep. Planned. On paper this year -- although I usually have it on my computer. My cycle leading to a late April peak started this last Sunday.

Since when is April early? The first road races around here start in January. By April, I'm racing nearly every weekend.

And yes, I am on a plan. Have been for several years. As others have said, I find I am more committed to plans that I paid someone to produce than ones I create on my own.

No interval training or do you throw in high intensity during cross practice? I'm upping my interval training to 2x a week because I couldn't match any accelerations this past weekend.
