Ulnar Neuropathy...
So I've been on vacation for the past few days and decided not to bring my bike. In order to get some exercise I decided to got to the local gym and do some spinning. After about 1.5 hour I got a bit bored and slouched a bit more than I should have putting quite a bit of pressure on my wrist.
After I get up I feel my left pinky and 1/2 my ring finger slightly numb. I have no idea how I didn't notice it first but I knew what had happened... Improper form had caused pressure on the ulnar nerve (goes through guyon's tunnel). I haven't noticed and weakness (motor) in my grip but it is still numb (sensory) after a few days. Taking NSAIDs and a warm water bottle but this is going to take some time to heal. Neuropathy and HTFU don't go together. Just a warning to beginners like me. Don't make this mistake... |
Really? I would think that if you don't experience this when you ride normally then normal riding wouldn't compound the issue. In other words... HTFU

Should go away on it's own shortly, don't worry about it.

had that as newb. death grip, singular hand position ... thought i wouldn't be able to pick anything up ever again.
gel gloves, changing hand positions, being relaxed solved the problem. |
It's something I deal with all the time on bicycles and motorcycles. It's just one of those things.

I had to have an operation about 20 years ago to free the ulnar nerve at my left wrist and elbow after many years of numbness. Still get numbness riding unless I use aero bars, which I therefore have on all my bikes.
