DeFREDifying your bike with cooler water bottle cages

Worrying about things like bottle cages is basically the very definition of being a Fred.

the word 'profiler' is good as it suggests someone concerned with a certain angle view of themselves and suggest that one profiles the demeanor of other riders.

For the life of me, people, why is everyone in this forum so uptight about how they may or may not look, how they think others feel about the way the look, labels for other bikers, labels for themselves...
Damn - it's like junior high for old men with too much time on there hands.
Just saying.

I re-fredified by going from carbon cages back to cheap alum mtn bike cages. They don't bottle launch and aren't terribly heavy.

Nah - I have nothing against the hardcore roadies. Ride enough with them, and you'll quickly realize that a lot of the things they're douchi about, like wearing tight clothes, not using Camelbaks, smoothly accelerating, drafting properly, not waving and keeping both hands on the bars in a fast paceline, etc., have real reasons (aerodynamics, speed, safety). Plus, they'll push you to be your best when you're trying desperately to hang on. If you're way out of your league, they'll probably let you know it quick or just drop you cold, and rudely, but if you can hang, you can see that there's a method to the madness.

So I'm still not sure what Fred means...
But I loooooooooooove riding. Almost more than I love anything else in my life. But, I also like my bikes to look good. If that makes me a Fred...I'm proud to be a Fred.
What we now need is a word for these idiots out there who take pride in riding the trashiest looking frame they can find just so they can look like they don't care...like "its all about the riding man...I don't care how I look."
In Australia, these guys quite commonly ride fixies.

Is it really "DeFREDifying" if you say "it's ALL about the looks"

Fred is a dork who tries to buy his way into success at cycling. HE reckons if it looks new, has a big name and is "blingy," he's a contender. You'll find millions of his cousins on golf courses, too.
It doesnt. Youre only a Fred if you think how you look makes you faster, better, stronger, more handsome, _______________ (fill in the blank).
"Hipsters." That's the word, I believe.

That sounds like more of a poser than a FRED. There is some overlap, but someone who thinks that their wallet is going to buy their way to speed by getting all-pro stuff, that's a perfect description for a poser (poseur).
FRED to me is someone clueless about the culture and training of road cycling, and often caught in a group ride way above their ability, yet completely oblivious to their lack of ability and knowledge in cycling. If the aforementioned FRED talks it up in attempts to convince others that he's a good cyclist with a lot of experience, that seals the deal - FRED all the way.

It's not about the weight. They could weigh 50g more and I'd still like them.
It's ALL about the looks. I'm not even carrying much extra fat, but I couldn't care less about 'grams' - let alone 2-3 pounds of bike weight. (I'll care if it's 7-8, though.)
I think all the deluded BFers who think they're making improvements with their miniscule aero gains and weenie weight moves are wasting their money. I may one day get deep dish aero wheels, but it will mainly be for looks - the 40 seconds on a 60min TT it'll save me is a pointless reason for me to drop $2k.
