Does anyone use a mirror?
I've been thinking of getting a mirror but don't know what's best, on the bike or on the helmet. Any suggestions?

Agreed. Tried several times to position one on the helmet. It was always getting knocked off and it vibrated a lot. Sunglasses mounted mirrors don't seem to vibrate as much and can easily be removed. Mirrors mounted on the bike have a somewhat limited field of view. Mirrors mounted on the helmet or sunglasses can be turned with just a small movement of your head and will permit a much broader field of view.

Sprintech bar end.
That said, preferences on mirrors, whether to have one, and if so, which/where....are very INDIVIDUAL, almost like asking about saddles or bibs.
I suggest you try them yourself, thankfully they are not very expensive.

Italian Road Bike mirror here too. I tried a cheaper, larger version (like the Sprintech, but I don't think that was the brand) but the image was so poor that it took too much time to figure out what it was showing me. The IRBs have excellent clarity so I can tell if something's behind and how far with just a glance.

Either a sunglasses clip on or helmet mount. It will take a bit of getting used to in order to figure out which way to tilt your head to see in which direction (it's opposite), but once you get it, it's very intuitive. The bike mounted ones are of limited value IMO.

I have Ti glasses that weigh too little and are flimsy. I have tried out mirrors on the frame but it takes them right off my head... Personally I have just tried to get better at glancing to my left and catching movement in the corner of my eye... else I do the hand on hip thing.

I use the kind that clip on the sunglasses. Handlebar versions vibrate to much and you really have to look down too much.

I use the Italian Road mirror too. The minor hassle is that to change the vertical tilt of the mirror you have to do it by changing the tilt of your handlebars. Horizontal adjustment needs to be dialed in before you tape the bars.
I used the Sprintech version but it would move around when I hit a bump. I end up screwing a little sheet metal screw into the plastic so it wouldn't pivot around. Still didn't like it as much as the Italian Road mirror

Had one, but found that I didn't use it. Didn't trust it enough to even bother looking into it.
Actually, the best defense for rear-approaching cars is listening for them. You'll hear them way before you see them in a mirror.
Although we'll see whether electric cars will cause some problems with that.
