Looking for road shoes

I've been looking for a cheap pair of road shoes for a while but it's quite hard to find ones that fit and are in my price range. I'm looking for a pair under 65$ that are a decent shoe. I wear a size 11 US in Nike''s so ive been looking at size 45's. if anyone has any links or advice it would be much appreciated! :)

Tough to buy online without trying on, LBS is a good way to go to get the size you need.

If you are buying online, look carefully at return policies so you can exchange sizes without it costing you too much. For instance, zappos.com has a great return policy and carries some cycling shoes.

That said, if you know what size you need (and it varies a lot by brand), bonktown.com has been running a lot of shoes recently. Diadora, Lake, and Shimano shoes have all come through there in the last week or 2. They've been going through the full range of Lake shoes, I picked up a pair of the mid-range cx236 myself (carbon sole, 3-hole, the cool BOA heel system). But I was able to because I knew what size I needed, 43.5 wide in Lake shoes in my case.

Well depends on what you expect, but I have found the Nashbar house brand shoes to be decent. Not as nice as some Specialized or Shimano, but they work, they fit, no real issues. They have a couple models of road bike shoes that come under your price limit.

what pbd said. order online if you want, but at least try a few on in person.

i wear a size 10 (US) in sneakers/running shoes (asics). my first bike shoes were specialized and they were 45. the fit was decent, but if anything, my feet were a little cramped. my current pair are shimano and they're 44. fit is actually better. my feet aren't shrinking...different brands fit differently.

I got some nice shimanos from Performance for around $50.

I've had good luck with used shoes on fleabay or CL. Usually cheap enough that if I don't like them I can resell at no loss.

Bicycle attire is so off with sizes I have actually try on first, make sure of the return policy if online like stated. I tried 3 different brand shoes at LBS (same size of 46) and all were actually different, same with shorts and jerseys.

I wear a size 10 NB running shoe and my Specialized Comp BG shoes are size 44.
You should definitely try the shoes for size before you buy.

I picked up some nice Lakes on Bonktown. It was risky buying online but their return policy seemed generous. I think I paid about $50. They're my first pair of proper bike shoes and I like them so far.
