Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wisdom of the crowd, help me build this bike up

So I accidentally won an eBay auction on a nice 2005 Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel steel frame in color blue with a carbon Wound Up fork. Don't ask me why, let's just say my wife isn't very happy about the accident. I haven't received the frame yet, and when I do, I will post the picture.

So, it's blank slate, and since I won this "accidentally", I am going to take my time build it up as kind of "bling" bike. So, what do you all think, in terms of components, wheels, cockpit, etc. that will befit this nice frame? Are there are "cardinal sins" I should not commit, e.g. putting campy gears on a IF or something like that?

Unless it has Campy all over it it will look like yesterday's news by this morning. I'd look for the latest/nicest silver Record components you can get on Ebay. Carbon and nice steel don't go together.

I was just thinking about this same thing. The new shiny carbon stuff worked well with Ti, but probably not colored steel frame.

How about Shimano Ultegra 6600/ DA 7800 stuff, I wonder if I can get some of those from eBay in good condition?
