Tiagra groupset

So I'm looking for a full Tiagra groupset but these things are next to impossible to find online, even on eBay. Does anyone know where to find one?

tagaproject6 10-05-11 08:43 AM

chainreactioncycles.com
wiggle.co.uk

horus11B 10-05-11 09:04 AM

both are showing out of stock. which is why i asked.

nathan.johnson 10-05-11 09:12 AM

Why would you want a tiagra groupset?

RT 10-05-11 09:18 AM

I have the 4600 12-30 10 speed cassette, just waiting for my chain-fix solution so I can go ride it.

Did I also see that Sora was redesigned with paddles now?

That was asked a while ago here. There's a couple of links there you may want to check out.

Some of us dont have a 105 pocketbook, nor do we care to race.

Yet another reason why a LBS is better than buying online.

Your LBS should be able to buy a full Tiagra group from QBP if they have an account. Or if they are a Trek dealer I believe Dex has it too.

And they won't charge you shipping if they're getting in weekly orders from their distributors too.

Sooo, we're supposed to pay a 50% markup for THEM to order it.

But we wouldn't have to pay shipping?

WOO HOO, way for the LBS to add lots and lots of value there.

Are you serious?

Every single retailer is going to make close to a 50% margin on their products. Even the online ones. Sometimes the online ones only make 40% so that they can undercut the local stores.

An online store just doesn't sell you the product for what they buy it for, they wouldn't make any money that way. They still have a whole bunch of overhead to pay and then they have to make a profit on top of that.

Besides, the value of the LBS here is that the OP wants a product that a consumer can't easily get directly, but a LBS can.

Now, you know that a LBS has overhead to cover. Betcha most eBay merchants, at least the smaller ones, work out of their garage or some low-rent warehouse somewhere.

I actually totally agree with the LBS comment. I would go there except my LBS doesn't speak english, and I'm in the process of moving back into the united states. I'm all about supporting small buisnesses, its just insufferably hard in this case. I agree, I should probably just wait until I get back to the states, find a LBS I like, and support them. I guess I was just trying to capitalize on an oppertunity to buy a 4500 groupset instead of the new 4600 for a good price, and have it waiting on me when I got home to america.

Dude, take some leave en route and catch yourself a hop over to the UK.

Go to a bike shop and if they have the takeoffs from an idiot that thought upgrading would make him faster.

Properly set up, Tiagra parts work great.

dtrain 10-05-11 03:46 PM

Get a used 6700 group instead (but you better hurry):

Another great example of Shimano forcing upgrades along their desired paths.

I'd still be buying Sora groupsets if they weren't so dang hard to find anymore as they work so well.

Well, wait a minute now. If you chose parts individually, you may get what you want and cheaper. I mean let's say you wanted Shimano Ultegra 8 speed bar-end shifters and a 2300 eight speed crankset and so on and so forth. You could get what's not even on the market and combine it your own way. Anyway, if you would have clicked on the two links in the link I provided up there, you would have at least found some double crankset Tiagra groupsets.

I still think you can get what you want. As a matter of fact, you may be able to find Microshift brifters if you look enough.

I would absolutely love to do this. If I wasn't moving/ in the military/ broke I would jump on it in a heartbeat. Hell, I'll give you 10% more than your asking price if you'll let me give you payments... lol

I'm not the seller...I just think it's a great deal (and I'm a bit tempted myself). He might be able to take a credit card via Paypal?

Commodus 10-05-11 09:52 PM

Hey I just asked this the other day.

I recommend waiting for ribble to get stock. Best prices by far, you'll end up with the ten speed group from them for a better price than you'll find the older 9 speed stuff from anywhere else.

If you can wait, that is.

I don't do credit cards.... which is why I'm riding a factory Giant low end bike. But your right, me paying him in installments is a great deal and he should totally go for it... :-P
