SIlver Crank suggestion

So I need a new crank to convert my commuter to 10-speed, and I wanted to keep it silver. I donwanna spend over 60 if possible. And I think shimano cranks are fugly.
Can you guys help me out?
Or should I just get a set of chainrings.

adriano 10-10-11 10:29 PM

dont buy anything.

Muffin Man 10-10-11 10:31 PM

so the 7 speed chainrings will work with the 10 speed chain?

adriano 10-10-11 10:31 PM

unless you have 1/8 inch chainrings. if so, buy chainrings.

*those will work fine.

adriano 10-10-11 10:32 PM

though, its nice to have new rings to go with a new cassette and chain.

Muffin Man 10-10-11 10:34 PM

um... I dont know what width i have... but its a stock shimano rx100 crankset with what i believe to be stock rings.

Your parameters are overly prohibitive.
You say Shimano cranks are fugly:

But your price range precludes both the purchase of 7800 cranks, AND psychiatric help. I'm afraid you're beyond help. Good luck anyway.

those are fine. i hadnt seen your reply yet.

I have a set of truvativ elitia cranks that look pretty good, but they dont make them in silver anymore. Or at least they have grey rings instead of silver. The only crank ive seen that fit my preferences was the truvativ roleur, but the only site that stocked them was icyclesusa, which has a bad rep here.

I could raise the price a little, but being a high schooler, I dont have much cash flow. And marching band doesnt allow enough time for me to find a job...

Yup. I bet your existing crank works just fine. I have a 1985 "5-speed" crank on my rain bike with 10-speed drivetrain ... shifts perfectly.
