Spinervals DVD's anyone?
Has anyone tried the Spinervals DVD training movies? I'm looking to get a couple of training videos this winter but don't want to waste my money on some if they aren't any good. I have also seen advertised the Carmicheal DVD but again know nothing about it. Trying to kill a bit of the trainer boredom this year and I can only read a magazine so many times a month . . . maybe some other DVD's you might know about???

I saw some fairly candid reviews of various spinervals DVDs on either Cyclingnews.com or Velonews.com within the last 8 months. One thing I remember from the reviews is that the different workout presentations vary greatly in quality.

I think they're OK...I have Suffer-O-Rama. I don't think I could do it more than once every couple of weeks or so because I would get bored of doing the same thing. I also have Carmichael's climbing DVD.
One thing I do is get a box set of some TV show you like (Sopranos, West Wing...whatever) and watch one episode per trainer session. That usually gives you somewhere around 45 minutes.

As an aside, check out the "World Poker Tour Workout" thread...

Using this same methodology, you could sprint every time Tony is banging some chick or switch to a big gear for 2 minutes every time someone gets whacked

I have the Spinervals 2.0 - Time Trial. I've only just started using it. The gearing is too hard for me so I change it to suit my level. It's hard work for sure. I'm not entirely sure if it'll really help prepare me for a time trial, but the ladders seem to fall in line with accepted concepts. Some of the drills are also good because they force me to do stuff I am aware of but generally won't do without external prodding. The one-legged drills are a great case of this.
If anything, it gives me a different routine. I'm probably going to get the CTS time trial one just to compare.
