Cheap Bibs/Jerseys

Hello guys! I am looking to buy some bibs soon, but since I am only 16 and have no job, I don't really have that much money money to spend($30-$40).

Do any of you know of any web site that sells bibs in this price range?

My current bibs are these: http://www.departmentofgoods.com/cas...rrProd=CST0488

The are super comfortable and I really like them. I got the bibs/jersey set from a guy on here for only $40 so I am not really expecting the same quality and comfort these offer from anything I get online for the same price.

I love the Castelli bibs, but after putting 3000+ miles on them(they are the only bibs/shorts I own) they are starting to come apart and I cannot shell out $100+ to get them again.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Found this on Qbike, dahell!

No freakin way!

Wow that KB cycling gear is CHEAP! Looks classy too!

I bought some cheap bibs off ebay, definitely a no-go. Anything over 50miles hurts, the chamois pad is not good quality. I would shell out the cash and purchase the bibs with the best quality pad you can find.

love2pedal.com bibs are excellent for the budget conscious.

K&K_Dad 10-25-11 02:17 PM

i'll throw in another +1 on Love2Pedal.

Be patient on Bonktown.

Or hope you match what's in stock in your size on PBK. (with no personal experience of them, these look good for the money and a good range of sizes in stock)

Who has the hookup for cheap jerseys?

fishymamba 10-25-11 04:08 PM

My first pair of shorts were from KB, they didn't last long the fabric started wearing really quickly.

I'll check out the bibs from love2pedals. Thanks!

EDIT: I don't see any bibs in small on their website :(

Look in the upper right corner for the current 50%+ off code. Their jerseys are Hincapie and Voler. My favorite jersey is a green Hincapie sprint jersey I got from there.

There are ads on them but they're not too obtrusive.

That's what I think I'm going to do,but I don't really care because I have eaten pizza that I randomly found in my room after a week of losing it.

How do you wear out the bib with only 3000 miles? You didn't put it in the dryer, did you?

Nope always hang dried, but I did use the washing machine to cash them. They still have a little life in them, but I want another pair before these wear out completely.

Not knowing your size and height you might be able to get away with mediums. While I would probably take a small in other brands I ended up taking a medium in the L2P's because of my height. Good thing too. Even at my current weight, and target weight I would still take the mediums.

1) Get a job - You can stock shelves in a grocery store for minimum wage ($7 or so), do 3 5-hour shifts and have money left over. A BETTER idea would be to get a job bussing tables in a busy restaurant and make double that. You're only 16, so now is a GREAT time to learn that if you WORK to get what you want, you get what you WANT.

2) Wait for the deals - Winter is coming and from what I remember everywhere starts to clear out inventory. Signup for email newsletters of all the main internet sites for sales. Set up an alert on Bonktown (product sometimes isn't worth it though). I always look for deals, but I've realized that if I add up the hours spent on the internet searching and searching for the RIGHT product, I could have used that time doing work, riding, or otherwise being more productive.

3) Get an early Xmas present

4) Ask parents to offset cost- If you are able to spend $40, maybe your parents can chip in $30. I can't imagine my kid saying to me that they need clothes to keep in shape and me saying "no". Its not like you;re asking for a $4000 carbon bike.

5) Stress the importance of bibs- If you were playing baseball, your father would spend money on a cup without question. If you were playing football, your mom would buy you a good helmet. Most parents (and many cyclists honestly) don't understand the importance of a good pair of bibs. A helmet, of course. Bibs, not so much. For a growing 16 year old, I think it is essential that you have the right equipment for your ehem, equipment.

Crappymonkey 10-26-11 07:48 AM

My first pair of bibs were the Falconi ones from love2Pedal and they weren't bad at all for the price. Since then I have been using alot of the DHB products from Wiggle. I really like them and if you can wait a little they often go on sale for 20% off. The Pace Rubaix shorts and tights are super comfy and I really like my Aeron Race shorts. Shipping from Wiggle has taken anywhere from a week to a month.
