How did I do? Specialized Allez Build.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How did I do? Specialized Allez Build.

Im riding the bike local for fun 20-30 miles 3 times a week and will be doing some 20-30 mile races this spring/summer. I have about $1500 in the build. I was going for a good solid every day rider that I can do some racing with down the road.

The bike is 100% Black Out

Used
2005 Specialized Allez Sport Triple black frame not a scratch on it!

All of this was bought 100% New
New 105 black Compact Double Group Set (crank with new BB, shifters, brakes, f/r derailleurs, cassette, and chain)
2011 Mavic Aksium black wheels and hubs with Specialized Armadillo all condition tires
Shimano PD-M324 Pedals. I cant wear biking shoes due to some foot issues so I use platform pedals with a light weight stiff sole shoe.
Bontrager Race Drop Bars with black bar tape
Specialized Avatar Saddle

Sounds cool, but .

But seriously, you're going to enjoy it. The components are good and as long as it fits you comfortably you're in good shape. The only thing I'd say is be sure to get some sort of foot retention. Clips if you can't go clipless. That, or you should hit up the LBS and see what they have for SPD shoes that look and feel pretty much like regular shoes when you're off the bike and let you clip in when you're on it.

Is it as nice as my late 80s Allez? I put it together a few months ago, purchasing the frame used, employing lots of old parts in my garage that were waiting to be reborn, and some new parts not nearly as nice as what you have.

This is before the wheel upgrade but you get the idea. All I have is a camera phone pic. Dork Disc is gone as well.

100% blacked out with a silver stem.....

I like what you have done with it, but I would get a black stem if we are talking about asthetics.

Where'd the $1500 go?

You could've gotten a brand new BMC SL02 with 105/DT Swiss R1800s for $1500

my bad, I didn't read, I just went off the picture I saw first which wasn't yours. I thought "Icyclist" was your post. I'd go with a matching thomson seat post and stem to black it out and make it sexier.
