I’m using i-Kam Xtreme. The quality isn’t there, the audio is poor. The video quality is good enough for posting onto youtube but getting licence plates has been a real hit and miss affair. Some plates you think “Yeah I got that one” and you didn’t yet it picks up others that you weren’t even looking at? Strange. It also has a tendency to switch itself off which really sucks. I had bought it for when I go shooting but as many other shooters have discovered the angle of the camera is all wrong with the camera being located in the middle of the glasses (just above your nose).
Amazon has the Contour HD for sale for less than the i-Kam and whilst they won’t post to Australia (lame) there was a work-around that cost me a few dollars more. In Oz they retail for $300. We are so ripped off here it’s not funny

I have the GoPro Hero HD
Freighttraining, how did you mount your GoPro in that last video with the shifter cable?

Mine is the HD Hero 960. It's on clearance right now for $150.
I mounted it to the lowest point of the handlepost on my new Bike Friday Pocket Companion folding bike, which I bought solely for hard climbing rides on trips where a full-size bike would be impractical.
I used a Manfrotto Super Clamp and a small rubber washer between the GoPro tripod mount and the brass stud on the Super Clamp. This is necessary to keep the stud from bottoming out in the tripod adapter hole. Here's a pic where you can see the washer.

Carloswithac, I like your mix of raw audio and music. It reminds me of my rides, since I ride with music in the right ear at low volume. I like being able to hear both at once, not 100% music like some videos.

What speed is the card? It should be at least a Class 4, with Class 6 and Class 10 being ideal. I use 32 GB Class 10 cards in my Contour and GoPro, and they finalize the file much quicker than the Class 4 card I started with when I bought the Contour.

haha,,, Should have seen that one coming. Seriously though, I looked today its a 4. Wondering if I need a higher class or if its corrupt. Worked well on my phone. Any other reason it would record in slow motion, other than my slow a$$ pace ?

It is very likely that the memory card is too slow. When that happens usually you get a jumpy, normal speed video as it drops frames.

Apparently my netbook couldn't handle my blistering pace!!!
Just hooked up to my work computer and it works fine. A little jumpy, probably due to it being class 4. Not digging the helmet mount too much though. Too much movement.

This is the reason why I always bike with my Contour HD. Happened 2 weeks ago. See how he over extends his lane to the right. He was pretty close to me. I can see the driver extending his neck looking at his rear view mirror like checking me out after the drive scare.

I had a gopro and had NOTHING but problems with it. It would not stay powered on, so I did a warranty exchange. 2nd worked for about a month and then same issue. 3rd, same problem. Returned it and will never buy one again. I cant tell you how many times I would go out with it on to then 10 minutes later look down and see that it has powered off. I used mine when I raced motorcycles so there was no time to reach down and turn it back on. I hear the HD version is better though.
4 months ago I borrowed one from a friend so i could use it on a couple rides. Again, had nothing but problems with it and so did he. They will never get my money again.

The GoPro and Contour - if the multitude of comments in various forums are a guide - seem to be the two Gold Standard cameras.
However, that Replay XD1080 camera is a hell of a lot smaller. That is what I've been looking for.
One concern is the mounts. The website doesn't really show them well or in-situ. Has anyone used one and can shed any light on the mounting options? I'd be after stem, handlebar or a 'dashboard' mount option.

This shows one of the optional mounts in use - might be the go.

Thank you all for your comments on this thread. Based on these discussions, I purchased a ContourHD and an extra battery last week from Amazon, (today's price is $140). For a mount, I got the flex strap mount and attached it to my handlebar with the camera below the bar.
Couldn't find a place in back to make it rear-facing. For safety, I ride with a strobe and there isn't enough room on the seat post for a camera also. My thighs would also hit the thing on every down stroke.

Another option is the 808 #11 Keychain Camera which shoots in 720p. You can get them on ebay for cheap and here is more info than you can use on them: https://chucklohr.com/808/C11/
Here is a video taken by one mounted with a small piece of velcro on top of a helmet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KopBQUZX6A
Upside: Cheap Downside: Battery Life (but you could get a little portable battery with a standard usb extension)
