Ouch.
Side note - I see that they'll be using the Garmin power metering pedals, too...

This clearly puts all disputes and controversy finally to rest.

True, but it's a positive indication that the pedals might be ready for production sometime soon.

Also thought this was interesting:
"Home training bikes for team members are being built with cable-pull Dura-Ace but the team plans to race on the electric-shift Di2 on both road and time trial bikes."
Is that a comment on the cost of outfitting multiple bikes with Di2, or the reliability/ maintenance issues of Di2 for the home bike not maintained by a Team Mechanic everyday?

A pro team was running a "ready to market" Campy electronic group in 2005. I agree with pcad. It's vapor until it ships to retailers. I say that as part of the most notoriously vaporous industry there is.

It's likely the cost factor.

Really? I didn't know that... Actually, I think that we all knew that, which is why the statement of optimism was hedged with words like "might." We all know that this is no guarantee that it'll be available to us plebes, but it's a necessary step in the right direction for that to happen.

Sram must love that article. I wonder if they will affect their advertising with VeloNews in the future?

And this is why there's still reason for optimism -
The odds of them coming to market after undergoing real-world trials with a pro team is better than the odds of them coming to market without. If you want to be a "the bag o' hammers is half empty," curmudgeon, that's fine, but it's still a sign of progress.

For the record, I think Garmin is going to deliver on this one, but I'm not saving my money for it either.
