Guy on WSD bike?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Guy on WSD bike?

So, I just found this ok deal for a Specialized Dolce Expert ($500)
Do you think I could ride a women's bike? and what price do you think I should pay for it.
It's 7 years old and Shimano Dura-ace.

It's 52 cm and the seller is the same height as me. It should fit me, I will go find out if you guys think I should buy it. Just a little weird since it's a girl bike and the seller is a guy, so dunno.

Is $500 a bargain? how much lower should I go?

Depending on how low he goes, I might not buy the bike because I don't want to pay a lot of money and lose my masculinity. xD

In general women of a given height tend to have slightly longer legs and a shorter torso and arms than men of that same height. So the WSD bikes are built with a slightly different ratio of seat tube vs. top tube length. But individuals differ and some men fit better on the WSD bikes whereas some women are better off on a regular design. Sounds like a good deal if the bike fits you.

WSD is just another fit option as Pathmann says. If it fits, show that you have big ones and ride it.

If it fits and it is not a bright 'girly' colour then you are good to go.

No one will notice.

No problems shaving your legs and wearing skin tight spandex in bright, lively colors but riding a bike that only 0.02% of the world would recognize as being designed for a woman is a potential problem?

Not all of us shave or legs and wear bright, lively colors. I do neither.... you would not be faulted if you confused my legs for those of Sasquatch, and my kit matches my bike perfectly - black.

I'd ride a Dolce Expert for sure! $2400 MSRP for the 2005 model. There were no 52cm in 2005, however.

There's a 51cm that has a 52cm ETT and a 54cm that has a 53.5cm ETT.

if it fits you and you won't be too embarrassed by the colors to ride it, buy it. who cares what other people think? and even if you do care, will it be obvious to them that it's a girl's bike? if so, just ride faster so they can't look at it long enough to tell. the main thing is, will you ride it? it's not a good deal if it just sits in your garage.

If the bike fits you in all aspects, as said in several replies, Buy It. I'll reinforce what has been said in that very, very few people, if any at all, will recognize the bike as a WSD model. At that price with the DA build I'd do it if it fit me, no hesitation.

This

If I see you riding a pink or baby blue colored bike, I will laugh.
But you probably don't care about that....

$500 for a dura ace equipped dolce is a prety good deal, if the drivetrain and wheels are in ok shape.
right on the verge of between 9 and 10 spd
what you might not get in TT you can find in a bit longer stem...
fit ? whatz dat?

embrace your feminine side...

A friend's husband is not a tall guy. He got a new bike a couple of years ago. The one he liked that fit him was a Felt WSD road bike with DA. It's black and red. It has a small "W" on the top of the top tube, otherwise it looks like any other bike. He's been very happy with it.

Get the WSD if it fits you. There's nothing worse than a bike that has the wrong geometry. I was lucky that Trek didn't put pink or aqua on their WSD bikes. I hate pink and I'm female.
