Anybody riding Rolf Prima wheels?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anybody riding Rolf Prima wheels?

Thinking about new wheels for the Evo, looking at Rolf Prima's amongst others. Anybody currently riding them? I'm looking at these...(one tubular, one clincher)

And these...

Thanks for the opinions,
Brian

I rode crappy paired spoke wheels for a long time and after suffering debilitating spoke breaks I am permanently turned off by them.

That being said those were crappy wheels and I've heard that if you're going to go with paired spokes Rolf is the way to go.

But I will never buy paired spokes.

Yes, I am interested and concerned with the paired spoke design, thus, opinions from current RP users would be most interesting...

I have two pairs that I purchased 12 months ago. There is a new australian distributor - www.vonact.com - that was super helpful. These things are wicked fast and stiff. Way stiffer than zipp that I have been riding for 10 years. You wont go back once you have ridden them. All hand made with white industry hubs, titanium freehub etc. I think you will find that your concern with the paired spoke is due to the fact that Rolf have a patent on it and no one else can do it (unless they lease the rights to them) so you dont see them as much.

Actually a lot of manufacturers made paired spoke wheels but it is now widely considered to be a dated design because of their consistent failure. Almost every person I've talked to that rode paired spokes hated them. Mostly because when a spoke breaks the wheel jumps so out of true that the tire rubs against the frame and the bike is completely unrideable and you have to get picked up.

But like I said earlier I've heard that as far as paired spokes are concerned Rolf knows how to do it.

I just think it's a poor design. Maybe someone like Psimet will chime in and provide a more educated response.

I've been rocking a pair of vigors that were built in 2006. I'm the second owner and i know the original owner (170lbs) quite well and still ride with him. He would always ride them as long as it was dry outside. I bought them 2 years later and i've hit monster wheel swallowing pot-holes in races that made my whole body ache and they are still 100% I've never seen any Rolf fail and the majority of people here in Eugene ride them so i see a lot of them.

Thanks for the replies, seems like there are not that many people outside of Eugene that ride them. That's why I posted, to try to get a broad cross section of riders who are currently using Rolfs. Anybody else want to chime in?

My Vigor RS are now my backup wheels but I did 6000 miles on them without any issues. I got the carbon bug a couple years ago and got some deep V Reynolds.
