Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Spinergy wheels

I am new to the road bike forum and usually hang out in c&v. I have a 2007 Roubaix Triple and a few C&V bikes, but have an oportunity to trade a bass guitar for a Kent road bike that I found on craigslist. I haven't got alot of info from the guy, but it looks fairly nice. I know that kent makes cheap walmart roadbikes but I can't find much else about them. The main reason I want the bike is for parts (It has spinergy wheels). I would like to put the wheels on my roubaix and probably part out the rest. Below are the craigslist photos. Is this a decent bike? Is it worth getting for the wheels?

It depends on how much you're paying for the bike.

Those appear to be Spinergy Stealth wheels. They come in 3-4 different models and range from about $700/pr to over $1000/pr. I have a set of the Stealth PBOs and like them. Not super light but durable and I haven't had a problem with them at all.

Yes, it depends on the price. The wheels new can be found for about $800 new. I have them and if you click on my Cervelo below, you can see I took off the flash points and they look better. I like them.

He's asking $750 for the bike, or said he might trade for a good Bass guitar, which I have and never play. I haven't heard back from him after a couple of emails today though.

Well I would say the wheels are decent enough, but it wouldn't be the deal of the century or anything.
