Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got my house broken into on christmas eve. My alarm went off and spooked them, so they didn't get anything....they didn't even get in the house this time.

I just know someone was targeting me because they must have known I just got some new Capo bibs and an Easton stem. I guess those items are fetching a pretty penny at pawn shops these days!

Anyway, that put a little damper on my christmas because I couldn't buy a replacement lock until yesterday, and I had cardboard shoved in the door keeping it closed after it was kicked in. :O

Thanks.
Yeah, when the alarm people called and said my alarm was going off I was like "no it can't be! It's christmas eve!!!!!"

My cat got a pretty good spook out of it though.

The one thing that scares off a robber more than an alarm? The sound of a chainsaw starting. Just sayin....

Dropped heavy hints this year, so Santa came through: Serfas True500 LED headlight, the 7-11 Book and the Italian Racing Cycles book. The Serfas is wicked bright.

I got 100 REI bucks. Probably spend that on cycling stuff eventually.

And I really did get coal in my stocking. And I was excited about it, being a geologist. mmm....sub bituminous....

I got a real commercial espresso machine and a grinder. I have been so jacked up on espresso for the past several days that my HR has not come down below 180% FTP since. Who needs to ride for fitness? Not me anymore LOL.......

Nice! Which machine & grinder? I'm thinking of getting another one just for the garage- since it always seems to end up as my small group's pre-ride staging area.

Pics (with bike, I suppose) whenever you get around to it, would be good.

I got my wife a replacement frame for her bike, some shoe covers, warm riding tights and warm gloves. I got her an older Merlin titanium frame, painted red except the rear triangle. I am now looking to get her a new fork and headset. My wife got me several bike related stuff, new Zipp bars for my Merlin and a new black Thomspon stem. I ordered some red/black spacers for the bars and I am going to have my LBS put the bars on the stem with a torque wrench (so they can warranty it, she got it there).

I got a Fizik seat bag (the ICS one), two new red water bottle cages to replace my disgusting white ones and a Garmin Edge 500 (Red/Black bundle). It was a great Christmas. I also got some money and I'll be buying a winter coat today or tomorrow.

Good taste. I got the Mini Vivaldi 2 (same machine as yours except for not being plumbed) and a Compak 3 Touch grinder.

Any old thread-bare tire kicking around in your basement will do. Same goes for that heavy OEM wheel with stress cracks around the spokes that you retired years ago but never threw out. Throw the thread-bare tire and a cassette on it and Bob's yer uncle. Who cares if it's trued, simply throw the brake release off--after all, you don't need brakes on a trainer.

Everybody keeps old tires and worn out bike parts "just in case" too right?

A pair of these Bontrager Race Lite cages : I have had awful luck with bottle cages this year and my girlfriend got me these.....They match the trim of the bike even

$500 of our Xmas budget went towards the final payment for my Permanent Residency Visa here in Canada, so my ultimate Xmas gift will be my gre Ben card.

Cheers,

Brian J.
