Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's the point of a hitch mounted rack on a pick up? What about a 2x4 with fork mounts drilled into it?

But when you aren't travelling you can keep it safer in the bed and less chance of backing into something with it.

Performance Bikes makes a removable one for about $55. I have it in my truck, then when on biking trips, I can take it off and put it in my other friends truck and double up on bikes fitted in there.

I use a hitch mounted rack on my pickup and I think it works great; yours seems a little easier as mine carries the bikes by the toptubes and they hang down. I have to secure the wheels from spinning. I can, and do, transport 6 bikes using 3 in the bed and 3 in the rack or I can load the bed up with luggage/picnic stuff/camping stuff/coolers full of beverages or anything else and also carry three or four bikes on the rack.

EXACTLY.. I think it's funny that it boggles peoples mind that I bought a hitch mount. Like I didn't think hmm I could easily spent $25 on a 2x4 and fork mount

you can't actually put stuff in the bed of a pickup truck you'll scratch it LOL

Sorry to be off-topic and talk about the bike ,
but that was my first road bike (an '09 1.5 which is the current 2.3).
I have to agree, I haven't seen a better graphics job since 2009 until now.
Very nice 2.3. I like it.

Oh, and I definitely like the Ranger too.
