Scratched rear dropout on a carbon frame
Something went awry when shifting into the 12 cog. I found this huge scratch in the frame below:

Should this be a cause for concern? This is a new frame... good thing the black paint hides it well, but I'm just hoping that it won't cause my frame to spontaneously explode while riding...

the dropout area is usually made from aluminum.

It depends on if you have full carbon drop outs or not but I would probably have that checked out because it does look a little rough...Be safe and just have it looked at.

On the note of your shifting, check your high low adjustments, that might have caused it (May need to screw the High screw in a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn)

If it were a steel-framed bike, you wouldn't have to be concerned about a scratch on your dropout, it would be like...So what?

Also everybody knows that carbon is stronger than steel in every way. And it doesn't rust.
