Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm into architecture as well, mostly modernist homes. My favorite architect is a tie between John Lautner and Frank Lloyd Wright. I would love to own a Lautner designed home someday.

Movies and quilting. DH and I spent all of Christmas watching old WWII movies. We also watched "Diabolik", a 1960's Italian movie based on a comic book. DH has obscure stuff as well as mainstream. Looking forward to 50th anniversary Bond collection of all the movies coming out later this year.

I may suck at cycling, but I've won awards in competitions, design my own quilts, both modern and traditional, and sort of sell machines. While I don't work for dealer, I know my sewing machines and give realistic reviews of them via my blog. I often get emails asking about a machine and get an email back saying they bought the machine after a test drive and my review. I couldn't actually work for a dealer. If you think your LBS is stuffy and obnoxious, I triple dare you to walk into a high end sewing machine store and ask about machines. If you think you are getting ripped off on parts, buy a sewing machine and have it break down. I don't normally do quilting for others. It's not worth the effort and I don't have the time.

Mostly ... I cycle.

My next most expensive hobby is probably post-secondary education ... taking classes. I've taken well over 100 post-secondary courses on a wide variety of subjects.

Now I'm dabbling a little in photography. So here are some questions for others who are into photography here ... what kind of camera do you have? Do you like it? If you were to buy another, what would you get?

And I do heaps of other stuff ... walking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing ... and I tried a surf ski and a boogie board at the beach recently, and loved it. I also like relaxing things like reading and drawing.

No, that's silly!

I like researching UFO and Crop Circles. Both their sightings and related events.

This is my new hobby, this and running. I also like to play video games. I golf with the wife. Take my dogs to the dog park.

However because I started riding, some of the other hobbies are suffering.

Cycling takes all of my free time, but I think I'd like to get into photography. I see lots of things while I'm out riding...but I don't know anything about cameras. Maybe I should take some time and learn.

Oh I also do yoga and weight train, but that's just for cycling.
