Climbing Mt. Doom with One Knee Tied Behind my Back

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Man, this knee sucks. I need those shots bad this time. Ouch. Tuesday 8AM appointment. Nothing like huge needles in your knee to start your day. Looking forward to it.

The shot works well in the spine for low back pain.

Hope they help ease the pain. They never seemed to help me, but some people swear by them.

Okay tomorrow is the big day. Let us know how it goes. I am sorry to hear about your knee, i hope this fixes you right up.

(So far i have just been getting depo-medrol in my knees every few months.)

My ortho-pod buddy was telling me about Supartz. It is similar to Synvisc, but he says it has less chance of allergic reaction and it may be better for you in the long run. Maybe you should ask about it?

They have been keeping Pcad roadworthy since 2007 or so. The low back shots never did anything for me. My back still hurts. But after 12 years, I'm used to it.

What I know I'll have to eventually procure is a Historic LP R9 or R0. It's a problem. That will be like the Hunt for the Pcad Tone Grail. That guitar search might take a year. I'm an LP/PRS guy. Eff friggin Fender. Wimpy single coil quackass guitars that they are. I like those Heritage guitars but the headstocks are just too fugly.

Anyway, I got my Synvisc shots today, all three ampules @ one sitting, the local anesthetic made that relatively painless after the initial kneeocaine shot.

Day off today, back on the bike tomorrow or Thursday, should be good to go now.

I shall resume road cycling tomorrow. Hell, it's rideable today, but I'll give this knee that just had a bunch of injections one more rest day.

Patentcad - I am Gumbus and will begin by saying getting older SUCKS (I am 58). I have always been athletic mostly running. Had left knee surgery, scoped about 10 years ago and running was over so I started biking. I particularly enjoy training for competitive events. Now I have arthritis and thinning cartilage to the point there is a small point of bone on bone. Dr. says I am great candidate for Synvisc. Seems that this is a good route to go to put off the inevitable Knee Replacement. Did I mention that getting older SUCKS? The question that I have for you is what is your expectation of your future riding? Can you maintain an aggressive riding life style for both mileage and intensity? and if and when you end up with total Knee Replacement, can you still keep riding at an aggressive level? Is there anybody out there that has had a total replacement and still had a good 20 years of serious riding?

Maybe we should start up a category for riders with new body parts.
