For those that ride with platform pedals what shoes do you use?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For those that ride with platform pedals what shoes do you use?

Does Shimano still make those pedals with an SPD cleat on one side and a platform on the other?

I can see the utility in not having to wear cycling shoes every time you ride. But if you NEVER wear clipless on a road bike, you're doing it wrong.

I dunno if Shimano still makes 'em but somebody makes 'em.

Better to have 2 road bikes, though

Or at least go platforms in the winter, clipless in the summer.

i have my Sirrus set up with platforms. it's the bike i ride to class, so it needs to accept everything from sandals to winter boots. there's no way i would set up a true road bike with platforms, though. heck, my tricross (that i use as a commuter) has crank bros Candy pedals on it. i understand the urban commuting requirements, but it doesn't take THAT much time to clip in once you're used to it. the fact that you're clipped in is definitely worth the 2 seconds it can take if you miss the cleat the first time. with my mountain shoes i can work in them (bike shop) if i forget to take my other shoes. i've even gone to class in my MTB shoes, and i didn't even get any funny looks for it. climbing stairs to the third floor was no problem, either. plus (like many others have said) you can get a platform for one side of the pedal if you have to wear winter boots or something. best of everything.

Thanks everyone for your input. Something along the lines of those chrome pedals is what I was looking for. I did not want to turn this into a platform vs clipless debate. I am going to be using road pedals and shoes 99% of the time. But I was thinking about using platforms in the winter and possibly on some lunch work rides.
I am getting Look Keo Classics and spec road shoes as my main pedals.

I have a set of these pedals on a bike and like them quite a bit. https://www.rivbike.com/product-p/pe1.htm

You can ride these with any shoes it seems and the wide platform makes your shoes quite stiff.

I was close to buying those a while back but ended up buying their 'sneaker pedals' instead. They were about half the price. If I could do it again I would probably have bought the same ones you did...

If you want to think about pedals, too, Ergon recently introduced a design of their own. I might get them for either my wife's bike or my commuter (at least, if I don't switch the commuter to clipless first).

I use a set of the Black Ops with the screw in metal pins without clips. They really hold my tennis shoes and office shoes (rubber sole) on the pedal, wet or dry. They don't fit to well with the combat boots I use to use in the snow, but not bad either. I suffer from 12 4E feet and can not seem to find affordable spd shoes, so I go with platform and platform with toes clips.

Wear what makes you happy.

Wow, Ergon sure makes some unattractive bike parts. A lot of people swear by their usefulness, though. Those definitely seem like the ticket for pedaling to work in loafers or wingtips. Just re-up the grip tape once a year or so. Could probably get scraps to do so with for free from a skateboard shop.

I'd like to get some super thin pedals next. These particular pedals aren't widely available and I'm guessing out of my price range but there are other thin platforms to choose from:

Yes. I have these on my CAAD - the ride to convenience store/gym/whatnot bike.
Shimano PD A530.
