A week on a beach cruiser - FTW!!!

So I spent the last week visiting my GF in SoCal. The only bike available for me to ride was a beach cruiser. I rode it every day. One day I put 35 miles on it!

No doubt I was missing my skinny-tired roadie, but I wasn't missing the single digit temps back east. Temps in SoCal were in the 60s and 70s.

Conclusion: cycling on a beach cruiser > not cycling at all

I'm welcoming any and all comments on the validity/absurdity/ridiculousness of the concept...

cycling on a beach cruiser AT THE BEACH >>> any road bike day here in OK.

The quality of the ride is not always measured by how fast you go but rather, by the where and who you are riding with.

Rode the beach, roads, and also an inland bike path. All good...

I had the same experience last summer in the FL panhandle area. We spent a week there on a family vacation, and I rode every day up and down the 30A on a beach cruiser I found in the garage of the rental house. It was great! Slow, but fun.

Slow Bicycling being fun! Imagine that. ;)

Not slow, slow-er. :D

There was one time I kept up with kitted-out roadie. That was on a road where a cyclist could go virtually as fast as desired. I hope that guy was ashamed of himself...

when I was in college in western mass I took an old schwinn cruiser with a spring-mounted fork from the garage and rode the trails on Mt. Toby, which was across the street from my house. I think i invented Mountain Biking, but I didn't have the presence of mind to go to Norhtern California and become Gary Fisher.

Truth. Some of my favorite rides were cruising through my college campus at night on my BMX bike.

Yep! They can be lots of fun. I always enjoy riding with my grandsons. I seriously doubt that they can HTFU.

Of course he could have been recovering from a serious disease like cancer and may not have been at the top of his game.

Just saying. No reason to think like this.

Actually, I rode 3 days with the gf and I did 4 days solo. Even so, the "scenery" wasn't that great as it really wasn't beach weather. It was great cycling weather tho.
