Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks for almost bursting my bubble!!! I ride 25s and I don't often find the 4000s on sale in 25mm.

Boy..you guys are really harshing my buzz! I'm going to happy know I got them for under $50 each and that my money went to a U.S. company (well...at least the margin did).

If you are patient you can sometimes find them on sale for under 40 bucks each, including shipping, from PBK.

p.s. WTF does PSA mean?? I can only think of Prostate Specific Antigen, which is a blood test for a protein made by prostate tissue.

p.p.s. nevermind, I figured it out....Public Service Announcement

Actually, if you're buying Contis your money is going to a German company regardless of where you bought it from. Rubble, PBK, BTD, etc. are merely resellers.

About 18 months ago they were approx $28 each. I stocked up but somehow have gone through the ones I bought. If you are patient and use a coupon code you might see these prices again.

But don't hold your breath.

So BTD doesn't make a penny on products I buy from them? How do they stay in business?

While we're doing PSA's....

$47.50 for the 23mm on amazon, ships free. Shows up in a day or two as opposed to 2-10 weeks from PBK.

It's so easy to double-check prices against Amazon and ebay, I don't know why everyone doesn't do it.

No, BTD makes money when you buy from them. Don't be obtuse.

The point is that your "buy American" stance doesn't make as much sense when you're talking about retailers versus manufacturers.

Doesn't BTD employ people in Portland, OR?

I am sure their employees will tell you that buying from BTD puts food on the table and pays the rent.

I did Ribble because they had something else I wanted and couldn't get a good deal on locally, so luckily I looked up GP4000 while ordering... probably should've bit the bullet and ordered 4 total, but then I'd never get around to mounting up the Gatorskins I have sitting around...

For US shipper, I found Planet Cyclery on eBay has a good price, $87.95 + free shipping for a pair of GP4000S (boxes not included to save on shipping). If you want the boxes, add $8.73 for shipping. If you want 10 tires, Planet Cyclery has a deal $429 shipped, and there's also the option to "make an offer" to get a lower price too. I haven't bought tires from them, but I did buy something else and it was shipped very quickly (ordered weekend and shipped out Monday) and arrived quickly too (arrived Wednesday). Edited to add: I think this is the same company as the one selling on Amazon.

I like to support my LBS, but $75 each is too rich for my blood... I do buy other stuff there tho!

I was just looking for these in 25's about an hour ago and didn't see prices like this. Ordered from Ribble. BTD is too expensive for most things. oops they are $57 there now but Ribble is the same price as quoted above. See? ;-)
