75 Degrees today in San Marcos

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been to parts of Texas and I'll take our cool, mid-50's West Coast winters any time. It can be cool overnight (hit 25 degF early am), but that just keeps the lawn from growing. My hat is off to those living in winter climes who ride through the winter; I'd be on one of those fancy trainers.

Tomorrow we're getting the heaviest snow the northwest has seen in decades. I'm taking the day off. I bet I'll see people skiing in the roads tomorrow.

Revenge is not always a dish best served cold.
You guys in American Siberia be sure to remember this. Make a nice Zombie thread in August when it's so hot in San Marcos, TX that birds are exploding in mid-air and nuns are swearing openly in the street.

I saw people huddled around a fire on the sidewalk this morning. It looked like they built a fire pit out of snow.

I'm from Michigan but moved to Texas (Austin/Houston) and lived there for 13 years. Loved it. 5 months ago I moved back to Michigan. I'm not looking forward to riding in my basement during the winter but I have everything setup so it's conformable.

I'm coming down the end of this month for work and wish I could bring my bike.

On a side note riding my mountain bike on snow packed roads is pretty fun ! If I want to get out I can.

Tis true. It does suck in the summer. Not only hot as hell but humid to.

If it helps it's windy as heck here today, so riding will only be fun in one direction.

Actually the San Marcos area is kind of cool. I especially like going to Gruene every once in a while.

That's why they invented headlights and tail lights for bikes. We just go all Omega Man and ride at night. No big deal.
