"I know it wasnt specified in the original post but when he said "less than 2k" I would assume that means purchased new, or built w/a new frameset and components. For someone to buy a 10 year old bike off craigslist for $500 that cost 3k new is kinda missing the point, right??"

the photo was just to play the game.

Thanks for being a smart-ass fred I appreciate your sarcasm.

 You post a picture of your bike to be judged as Hot or Not. A couple people say not and point out why so and you come back to essentially say, "well, my bike doesnt look like that anymore. I adjusted this and that a while back and dont have that or these either". So what bigfred was trying to say was, why post an old picture of your bike for judgement when it doesn't look like that anymore?

Yes bigfred was a smart ass to you, but you kind of set yourself up for it. If you want the obvious approval from cycling buddies who share the same hobby and give you a general "nice bike man", post it in the what bike do you ride thread. These Hot or not threads (Budget or regular) can be filled with brutal honesty. Its all subjective opinion, but a truly hot bike tends to have a unanimous vote of hotness. Hotness does not necassarily equate for quality or cost, so try not to take it to personally.

Just to extend on this thought while we're there. Not all bikes are equally hot. Some take a lot more work than others simply because the bike has bad lines or a mediocre paint job. Colnago's are almost inherently hot, most Trek's aren't, its just the way of things.

bianchi10 08-23-13 10:46 AM

this goes to show how subjective a "Hot" can be because I tend to think most Colnago's are a not. :)

I....Tend....To....Think....Most....colnago's....are....a....NOT

I dig that white one. the blue one, NOT so much. That is a good example of wy I dont like a lot of colnago's. They can be overdone with color IMO.

gc3 08-23-13 11:05 AM

The good thing is there's enough choices to be able to find a hot color palette....when I win the lottery, I'm buying a C59, a Crumpton, and a Cyfac....

AdelaaR 08-23-13 02:47 PM

My thoughts on the colnagos:
The Blue colnago is simply hideous ... I wouldn't even ride that thing in the zombie apocalypse if it was the only bike left. Definite NOT.
The saddle On that black colnago is pointing way up, that frame looks too clunky to me and a gold chain? seriously? Not.
The White one is way too white for my taste. Not.

But what's the deal with the mismatched colors in the rims?

jashgtp 08-23-13 03:30 PM

well, i recently added the powertap rear wheel. It was built on a mavic open pro, my other wheel-set is ksyrium ES, I am thinking about having a matching front wheel built but the ES is very light

revchuck 08-23-13 03:48 PM

Mavic supposedly offers a 28h OP. Get one of those and have it laced 2x, it'd match nicely and provide a nicer ride than the Kysrium.

They do. I have one laced to a rear Mavic Cosmos hub.

I've wiped stuff off of my ass that has more credibility than the opinion contained herein.

right on dude I hear what your saying.

not to be a total asshat but what are we actually talking about?

the angle of me seat looks weird? my bars are adjusted 15 degrees too high for your tastes?? I replaced one tire and the front one was still good so I didnt change it at the same time?

yes I suppose I should have taken a new photo, Ill get right on that.

Make sure you iron the sheet you have draped behind the bike next time. :p

Like I said before, I think this bike has some real Hot potential. As for the bars, I prefer a short and shallow bar such as the zipp contour SL bars. Your bars are deep and pointed down towards your rear hub. I think they are more aesthetically pleasing when they are pointed towards the rear brake caliper. In the picture, the saddle is pointed up a bit and with a flat top saddle like that, they look and usually perform best when completely flat. The mismatched tires, but you said you are now running GP4000s tires which is a great choice. I would like to see a black chainring on there. Taking a photo from a higher profile instead of looking up at it will also help. I'd like to see a new photo of the bike :thumb:

nice bars but ouch! $250 thats hard to swallow. dont hate too much but Im using some unbranded chinesse knock offs (yes I skimped out big time, my cages too.). I honestly have no major complaints about either of them.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=336518(another old pic :))

bianchi10 08-23-13 07:11 PM

Ahhh, I remember this picture. There is a large amount of people that use no name carbon seat post, stem and bars. As long as they feel safe for you, rock them. They match the frame nicely. I was showing you those Zipp contour bars mainly to show you the short and shallow type of shape. this means the distance between the bar end and the top of the bars is less than a deep set such as yours. They are more compact.

Triathletes do neither of those things.

That's the fun of the Budget Hot or Not. Achieving the look without the cost :)

You may have a different opinion and you surely are entitled to one ... but I assure you that I personally find all three of those bikes to be ugly.
High price does not automatically equal beautiful in my world.
... and please spare us further details of what you wipe of your lower body. Thanks.
