Thanks for posting this. I had been thinking about going with a white stem on my Colnago. After seeing this I realize that a white stem and black seatpost just doesn't work.

A bike doesn't have to be expensive to look good.

I agree completely. At the same time, expensive bikes don't always look good.

son, you need some black cable housings, lose the confetti bar tape, and put that stem on the top cap where it belongs.
then it'll be hot.

There are some budget bikes in there that are hot. CAAD 9's and 10's can be hot for example.

A lot of the problem too is that many inexpensive bikes are mostly stock, fairly generic looking ones you see all the time. A well planned out frame up build can be inexpensive and hot but most people don't go through the trouble...

I agree with you, but, in the other thread a only a CAAD9/10 that's set up with RED, DA, or Campy is deemed hot, otherwise it gets the, "what's hot about stock?"

She may not be voted hot... but she is to me..

I know it woulda been cheaper & easier just to buy a better bike... but it wouldn't have been as fun or enlightening.

Looks sweet to me, I like the white stem. A white seat might look pretty good on it.

That sounds an awful lot like "She's got a great personality."

My flat bar road bike.. I think its hot but I'm partial. I definitely get lots of comments on it.

I like it but I think it would be hotter blacked out. debadge the wheels and get a black stem with black fizik micro bar tape

No, it isn't. There is a thread for this already that is several pages long.

+1. Give this man a prize. Again, most miss this altogether. There are tons of bikes in the hot or not thread that are extremely hot to many and are well under $1K.

yeah, i dont like the housing. it was stock. will change out. im partial to the tape but what do i know. contrary to popular thought, im being advised to raise my stem, interesting. would it be different if i cut the fork and left it where it was? i thought the low stem was all the rage....

I only paid $300 for my LeMond, and people were mostly nice to it in the other thread. It's a ridiculous thread anyway -- as it should be. If you're taking a hot 'r not thread seriously, white bar tape is the least of your problems.
