SRAM Apex White - Any ride reports for finish durability?

Specifically, I'd like to hear from any users on the white aspect of SRAM Apex.

I think the white highlights add a sharp upscale look to an entry level group, and I've been considering doing some custom builds with it especially for some women's bikes that it would coordinate with. Plus I'd like some insight if I am asked.

I'd really like to know how other people like the white. Has it chipped, is it a pain to keep clean enough, do you get good comments, etc.

I'd worry less about the finish and more about the function. The Apex FD is junk.

Yet another person unable to tune it correctly.

Properly setup, I doubt many people could discern the difference between Apex, Rival and Force if they were blindfolded on a trainer. (Or on the road... but that might present some issues.) Being able to accurately determine which FD was on the bike would probably trend only slightly better than the 33% random chance.

It's mainly weight.

I've had no problems at all. I did install it myself however.

On my Colnago no SRAM front derailleur will work properly. It is actually a known issue with the CX-1. I switched to an Ultegra front and and the shifting is perfect. On my other bike the SRAM front derailleur works perfectly.

yea to be honest I can barely discern between DA and 105 or ultegra and ... Same with sram, the shifters feel different but they all pretty much do the same thing...

Worked great for the first 1000 miles I had it.

You should go tell that to the five bike mechanics I took it to in order to make it stop jumping off the front chain ring.

Thats very odd. My fd works if properly set. But maybe yours could be defective. Have you tried settim it up yourself with a internet video guide for reference? Also remember the fd Shifter has 3 clicks for triple

I have a double. But anyways, I didn't find it very odd at all, considering the design. The FD has a gap in the cage, shimano either uses a rivet or screw for this gap or makes the cage out of one piece of metal. The Apex FD appears to suffer from a bad cage design along with the gap in the derailuer becoming larger over time.

Like I said before, it worked flawlessly for about 1000 miles so it was set up correctly by the shop I bought the bike from. Over time and using it, it didn't work so flawlessly anymore.

I have nothing against SRAM.

I will also step out of this conversation and apologize to the OP.

On that note, I have not seen anyone using Apex White yet, other than people buying the white hoods and putting those on bikes that don't have Apex.
