Amazing deal at a thrift store!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I got some Sidis like that for $60 on ebay used. Not as cheap as you but still probably my best deal on bike schwag.

The leather on Sidis blows away the cheap the cheap crap Chinese walking shoes. The soles are pretty worn but the leather looks brand new.

For the record, a couple of years ago I scored a Brooks B-17, new in the box, for $4.50.

Wow, I can't believe nobody stated yet that they wouldn't be caught dead in used shoes. Count me as one of them. There are some things I'll pay for and shoes that ONLY my feet have been in are one of them.

I take really good care of my shoes and have had them for two years but I pity the poor fool who would want to put their foot into them. I don't care if you microwave them, disinfect them with Lysol, boil them in water for an hour and put new liners in them, I'm not wearing them.

To me it's like scoring some underwear (with no holes - just a little discoloration) for pennies on the dollar at a garage sale.

Simply not worth it to me.

I'm fine with using a washing machine.

I've bought a little bit of bike stuff at thrift stores:

- shoes by Specialized (3), Shimano (2), Diadora (1), Time (1)
- clothing from Giordana, Louis Garneau, Nike, Descente, Pear Izumi, Bellweather
- a Lotus road bike
- multiple Specialized steel mountain bikes (other brands too, but I can't remember what)

I wear a couple sizes smaller, so I'm probably gonna end up flipping them. I've also gotten a pear Izumi jersey at the same store for around $3.

And wow, it's crazy to see some of the deals others have gotten too!
If anyone cares, I finally got a belt at a Burlington coat factory for a couple bucks. Haha

Not that I don't agree with you on having certain things "new",
but there are instances where one can buy used.

I picked up a pair of used/new Sidi Raidens ($49.) that was worn on 2 rides.
The owner got them as a gift and didn't they didn't fit him.
Mine still even smelled new and there was no wear.

Of course, a person can always have the shoes cleaned/washed
and install new footbed and off they go.

And, to pick up a pair of broken in Sidis for $60?
They will always be much, much better than new shoes at that price.
Knowing what I know now, I would've sprung for an entry-level pair of Sidis for
my first pair instead of the $39. pair I got from Sette (which BTW I sold for $35.).

Whoever is considering a pair of shoes, I strongly suggest you look at entry-level Sidis.
Even if they don't have carbon or all the bells & whistles of the top-of-the-line cheap shoes,
they will have great quality built in and there is only drawback...once you've experienced
Sidis, you won't want anything less than Sidis and your next pair of shoes will probably
cost you a quarter of your rent or mortgage. But, you're worth it, aren't you?

I've never seen anything bike related at my local thrift shops. Unless you count the cheap Wal Mart bikes.

As for used I think shoes are ok but no way on used bibs for me... ewe.
