Arione defect?

My Arione saddle is beginning to fail. Specifically the cover and padding is tearing off at the nose of the saddle.

The saddle does have a few thousand miles on it but generally I expect saddles to last longer than that.

So. Did I just crap out and get a random defect or have any of you all experienced similar? I'm inclined to replace with a new Arione unless there's alot of negative responses out there.

I am having a similar experience with my pro-logo kappa pas saddle and it is tearing at under part of the nose, also a couple of thousand miles on it. my guess is that each saddle has it's own wear and tear agenda.

My Arione is over three years old with no problems at all

Define "a few thousand miles."

3K, 10K, 15K?

I've got close to 3k miles on my Arione and looks brand new besides the "Arione" stitching that came off about two thousand miles ago. Other than that its fine.

My oldest Arione had over 20k miles on it without any tears or problems, sadly I had to throw it out when the rails got bent after getting hit by a car.

Sounds like a possible warranty situation.

I'm on my 3rd Arione now. The previous 2 died after the leather started to tear away from the shell. One was around 10,000 miles and the other was around 15,000 miles. I chalk that up to normal wear and tear, not a defect.

I have three different Arione saddles on 3 different bikes and 2 of 3 have started to wear out in the nose area. But they both have more than 5000 miles on them.

were the rails carbon? ive learned that steel and titanium never fail. go that route next time.

I have the same issue on mine, the fabric on the sides of the nose has worn away a bit. No padding gone, but just some discoloration.

It was the K'ium rails.

My arione has 3k on it and still looks new.

Thanks.

I'd guess between 3-5K miles but am too lazy to call up my Garmin history to be more precise than that. I'm chalking it up to bad luck and will get another. When a saddle and an ass are happy together the relationship should continue. :p

2 saddles on 2 different bikes, both have the exact same wear patterns with thousands (I'm guessing 7500-10000 each) of miles on them. No tearing or seperation but I am slowly wearing through the leather and it shows discoloration. I have more of a knees in pedaling style, so instead of wear marks on my cranks, I get them on the saddles. One has even bounced off the road a couple times on both sides, chaffing but that's it. Pleased with the quality but they will need replaced pretty soon I'm sure.

I think the earlier Arione's didn't hold up very well. I had a blue/silver one, and a black one that started to come apart on the right side where my thigh rubbed a little (even though I always adjust my saddles a bit to the left). My newer white one seems to be holding up better. It seems to be a lot smoother, and I've upgraded shorts to Assos.
