how do you pronounce Wilier?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think there is not a W in the Italian alphabet - In Italian it would be VILL - E - AIR, but I wasn't sure if they were stealing a french accent or something.

This should be the worst of my problems...............

please use it in a sentence. "I noticed in the locker room that he was willier than me". That useage would dictate taking the latin root "willy" as in, "He has a nice willy". using the modifier er by dropping the Y and adding ier. In this case the pronounciation would be will-E-er.

Or if you had 2 guys talking about bikes, someone could overhear "Did you see the Viner(pronounced veener) that guy had? Not quite as nice as my Wilier (Vill-yay), but it was something."

There's no official correct (or incorrect) way to pronounce it, as "Wilier" is an acronym and not an actual name or word: “W l’Italia liberata e redenta” (Long live Italy, liberated and redeemed).

Bottomline: pronounce it however you like. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a ******. (I ride a Wilier)

Anyway, however it's pronounced, I just got an email from CC that the Izoard XP with SRAM is being sold for $2,199 complete! So for those who are interested, grab one while it lasts! If I'm too late informing you guys, I just got it. Stupid iPhone is acting up and sometimes the email update is up to 4-6 hours late. <_<

I asked two different willier dealers and they said it was WILLI-YER. I was corrected at the first dealer when I said WILLI-YAY.

I was corrected by a shop owner for calling it WILLI-YER. He said it was pronounced WILLI-YAY.

From the company website - it's vee'-lee-air

Both Wilier and Triestina were inspired by Italian patriotism following the World Wars. Wilier is an acronym. W is an abbreviation for the word Viva, which means “Long live”, beginning the phrase: W l’Italia liberata e redenta – Long live Italy, liberated and redeemed. It is pronounced /Vee’-lee-air/.
Let's hope your shop owners know more about bikes

Edit: I noticed kaisersling got it right. You get a free cigar from both shop owners

Talk about pedants on the loose. I don't think the company really cares how it's pronounced, as long as it's being talked about like we are. Gotta love the Italians....how do you pronounce Countach, Murcielago, Gallardo, and most recently, Aventador, without getting into a debate?
