Front Wheel Won't Stay in True

I hit a pothole quite rough the other day. I came back and trued the front wheel myself to the point where there was only a very slight wobble. The back wheel was fine. Now every time I go for a ride and come back, the front wheel is out of true. Am I not doing something right? I followed the steps in the Park Tools Blue Book, and I've done it before on my old beater with no problems. Am I missing something about balancing the spoke tension? Are they all supposed to be at the same tension or something?

The wheel needs to be retensioned or the rim is bent. Your "going out of true" is either because of a tension imbalance, the wheel is way undersized for your weight, or you bent the rim.

The front wheel - roughly - should have equal tensions on all of the spokes. Pluck yours. If by plucking them it sounds like you're playing a sound instead of tuning an instrument...then you're out of balance.

After going around and adjusting the tension to sound and feel the same, the wheel seems fine now. The front spokes do sound higher than the back. Front is 20, back is 24, if that makes any difference? I haven't adjusted the back ones yet since there is no need, but the tension feels the same, so maybe the sound is different because the spokes touch on the back?

I'm riding with these wheels, Alex ALX- 200, 700c clincher. I'm 6' 2'' and 190-195lbs. Is it possible that I need a different wheel set?

yeah, those wheels are very inadequate for heavier riders.

before you ask, there are tons of threads on which wheels to get for certain rider weights.
