Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What's a fair price for used 2007 Opus Alto? (Buying my first road bike)

Hey there, was looking to buy my first used road bike. I was looking at a 2007 Opus Alto. The guy is the original owner and has since replaced the chain and tires with Bontrager Silica Compound ones. He's put on about 1,500-2000 miles. He bought it in 2008 new for $1,600. He's including Aero Bars, bike lock, computer and rear pouch in price. He's asking $800 firm. I came across one other seller of the same bike, a 2008 Opus Alto, that the guy said he bought for $2,500 and is asking $1,100. So I thought the one I'm looking at is one year older and $300 cheaper. The bike looks to be in good shape and he's also getting a full tune-up/cleaning done to it. Just wanted an opinion on whether or not the price is right for this bike. Thanks. I live in Canada by the way.

Without seeing it in person I would say it's not a bad deal. If you need someone to have a look I would suggest seeing if you can take it in to bowcycle and ask for Dale.
