Are The LOOK Folks Dumb?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

So ah...

What's the difference between LOOK's Lemond 695 and this:

For $7500, you should get a sag wagon following you around, and leg massages after rides, for a year.

Lol, well thank you. Never expected to get 100+responses

Exactly. The components are identical. The frames are identical. Slim has really done his homework. No lazy trolling going on here.

Well thats kinda my point about the bike being overpriced. Good job to Slim on showing its the same bike. Like I said, had they just offered say 200 "super collectors exact replica limited editions" of the bike for the $7K, & the other 495 in this model for a bit cheaper, I dont think many folks would complain. I just dont "get" why LOOK would put all their eggs in 1 basket withis this monstrocity, & try passing it off as some sort of "special.edition"? Nice to see LOOK paying homage to Greg, but making bikes a bit more affordable for many to buy, wouldve been a better thing imo.

The "special edition" is really $900 more than the stock 2012 model which is about 15%. So you pay a premium for a limited edition which is normal for just about any commodity

Fact check: It appears you can order the 25th anniversary 695 in the same 6 sizes that you can order the regular 695.

And...

The Pinarello Dogma 2 with Campy SR 11 EPS is $16,500
The Specialized Venge McLAren is $18,000
The Cervelo R5ca FRAMESET is $9800
The Cannondale Supersix Evo Ultimate is $12,500
And on and on and on....

A fool and his money are soon parted.

On that note, if I was one of the 1%, the standard LOOK 695 I-pack is the carbon frameset I would go for. Alas, my entire road bike cost a fraction of the 695 frameset.

Trek, Specialized and other companies sell framesets in that price range as well. They offer them because there's a market for them.
this. i own one car, i don't have any sailboats, planes, bass boats, or vacation homes. i don't feel bad about splurging on a great bike; it's one of the few indulgences i allow myself. if that doesn't work for you, that's fine. we all have a few things we throw a lot of money at, because we really enjoy it. that's not wrong, it's different

For some, $10,000 is not a big deal. It's not a hardship - at all.
Different pricepoints and LOOK doesn't care what people that shop at bikesdirect think about their exclusive offerings.
