Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

woohoo! just passed my 1st 1000 miles of cycling.

glad i was able to get this and my 1st century done before summer hit. i will most definitely be not as enthusiastic when the heat comes.

i wanna get new wheels now but i will try and wait till i finish my 1st season of cycling.

but i still wanna buy something for me and the bike. so i think i will buy a white 0º rise stem.

Congrats, I remember that feeling after the first century just like it was yesterday.

I also endorse your method of 'earning' an upgrade.

Congrats. You've earned an upgrade! Where is your favorite ride? When I lived in the valley, I'd ride from Northridge down to Balboa Park, ride around it a few times then back home. Also, in High School, I'd spend the night at my grandparents' house in Beverly Hills, get up Sunday morning and ride to Simi, then back home to Northridge. Riding down Santa Monica at 6am with no traffic was awesome.....but that was a loooong time ago.

Enough about me. Congrats. Now go get 2,000 miles!

my favorite right now is to drive to peck road park in azusa then take the rio hondo bike path into the la river bike path to long beach then take the san gabriel bike path from seal beach back to the rio hondo.

i like balboa park too but there's usually too many people walking there on the bike path. i usually go there when it's time for a maintenance check since i go to balboa for 2 laps then head to performance in woodland hills. i bought the bike there so it's free basic maintenance and one more reason to ride lol.

otherwise, i like to avoid streets for my joyride day since i already commute to work with the bicycle now.

Congratulations on passing the 1k mark. I remember when I passed my first 1k mark; I took the wife out to dinner for a celebration. That's when I knew I was going to ride for life.

I know you don't like the heat but you will be thrilled you did your base miles during the "cold" winter when the hot finally comes... Congrats!
