Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

70mm shell Sekine with english thread

Hey guys,
I have a Japanese made (pre 1973) Sekine and i'd like to upgrade the crankset. I took off the crank and bottom bracket only to find out the shell is 70mm (def not 68) but it has the english 68mm thread type.

Would I be able to use a modern 68mm BB? Will the 2mm make a huge difference?

heres a crankset im looking at: https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...200545__202430

any help appreciated, im new to all this.

edit: it has 1.37"x24TPI threading.

Might want to try C&V or the mechanics forum.
