Handlebar tape

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Handlebar tape

I need to rewrap my bars with new tape. I have been using Deda tape for years. It works satisfactorily, so I haven't bothered experimenting. Am I missing out on anything here?

I like Deda tape, too. Gel tapes are bit more cushy (I've got some by Bontrager). If you have problems with your ulnar nerve and fingers with vibration, Specialized makes some super squishy foam.

It's bar tape. You can't experiment with other tapes are are mostly <$20?

Try Fizik tape. Ride it for a month. Don't like it, replace it. Cost less than the energy bars you've consumed during those rides. Repeat until satisfied.

I love deda tape, but I use brooks leather tape now. Compliments my steel/ti frames better IMO. But if I wasn't using brooks, I'd be back to deda for sure.

Heh, I would put totally put Brooks leather tape on my touring bike, but I think it would class with my carbon weenie road bike.

Very true. In that case, I would honestly stick with the deda. I tried Bontrager, and usually set other people up with it because of how plush it is, but I personally hate it.
