Look Grip Cleats Falling Apart?

I have Look KEO Classic pedals and KEO Grip cleats. The "grip" parts are torn to shreds. Should I replace with more Grips, or just go with the regular ones? I got them mostly to not scrape/scratch up floors, but if the other ones are gentle enough...kinda seems crazy to have to replace good cleats just because the "grip" is done.

The grey U shaped stuff at the front is what is almost about to fall off my cleats.

You can still use them when the grips fall off, though they will wear faster if you walk on them any. Use cleat covers to prevent scratching floors, falling down, etc. The cleat covers are cheaper than new cleats and last a lot longer than the cleats.
I am currently using imitation Look cleats from Performance. It makes no difference on the bike.

Glob a bit of some Shoe Goo on the wear areas, and it's good to go. Shoe Goo last much longer than the original LOOK grip inserts!

I had the same issue. If you pull off the rubber ther will be a small amount of float, but nothing that's stopped me from riding.

They look like mine and IMHO they are perfectly good to wear.
By the way, I have the exact same shoe :-)

Yep, same here - destroyed the grip on mine over 6 months ago.

They still work perfectly well on the bike.

I use cleat covers mostly, btw - the rubber surfaces on those cleats are just gimmicky crap that wear down regardless. Don't bother, just wear cleat covers

Mine look the exact same as and1homer's. I also use cleat covers, and they've lasted over a year already. I'm not sure how or why...just take good care of them and make sure the plastic isn't wearing too much.

keep in mind that they are interchangeable L and R. I clip out of my right foot and that cleat will wear out 2x-4x faster than my left one. I stand on it on stop lights, push off on it when the light turns green, and sometimes "walk the bike" while still clipped in with my left foot. When you buy a set of 2, both can be used for one foot while the other remains unchanged because it is still intact..

I bought some Look imitation cleats made by Origin 8, at the time I was reluctant but that's all the shop had. It turns out they have lasted longer than original Look cleats and cost less too.

I don't like the Look cleats with the rubber grips. I find it much easier to clip in with the old style cleats.

I have got the regular ones and have not ever noticed them tearing up the floor at all. I do use cleat covers now, but I didn't have problems before I started using them other than wearing out cleats faster. I have only seen cleats mess up a floor if the cleats were metal.

It's what happens when you walk on carpet in a house with two sheddy animals!

Why always french when coming with new versions or revisions of the stuff they have been using forever and that works perfectly (aint broken, dont fix it) simply fail to deliver???

For example, im not a look guy but i'm sure there is a look pedal and cleats that are hard to kill and lasts forever, Time pedals has something similar when they took the impact pedal off the market and came up with plastic pedals, and not even think in the last models, their cleats sucks and the pedals dont last too much either.

Sometimes is better slight changes or no changes at all when the thing simply works.
