2012 SRAM Red Backwards Compatibility Tests
FINALLY!
The questions have been answered. Front derailleur works but not as good as the full system, yet better than the old. That's all I needed to know :thumb: http://velonews.competitor.com/2012/...ibility_209270 |
9/10 using the old red shifters and crank. I'll be buying one.

I might get one at some point. I'll be really happy if I can get it to work with my Rotor chainrings!
|
Yup...I will be getting one as soon as my LBS can get one.
|
Looks like I'll be picking up that FD sooner rather than later!
|
Same here on FD :) Too bad I missed the e-bay one that was up there yesterday...
|
Patiently waiting for the entire group to be more available.
|
Who am I kidding. Placed order on online shop. Says it is in stock. We will see if it will deliver anytime soon. I am stuck with Quarq for Crankset anyways so no point in looking to change hoods yet.
|
I wonder if it's possible to modify the current shifters to remove the trim feature
|
Bought one just now, ETA 3/31.
I'm using Rival otherwise. I'm debating using Praxis Works chainrings, but they're only in 50/34 110mm BCD right now. I'm thinking about getting 52/36. |
and how does old force and rival fd work with the new crank? 9-10? What about the force/rival FD vs new FD?
What about old generation steel cage red vs new?

not snarky at all-- but this is from the link in the OP:

There's no mechanical compatibility issues between red, rival and any of the 1st gen sram road.
So despite VeloNews only testing old Red and new Red, I'm willing to bet that this new FD will work with my Rival group. If I'm wrong, I can ebay and get some of my money back. |
