Ventilated Shoe Recommendations
I got my first clipless pedals last fall, they are the Speedplay light action. I also got the Serfas podium road shoe. I have used them over the winter and really liked how they feel. They do have some ventilation holes so sofar they have kept my feet cool but I know that the weather is starting to warm up and I was thinking about getting a shoe that would let a lot more air in to my feet. It gets to almost 100 degrees here in florida in the summer.Just wondering if a triathlon shoe would be better for cooling? Any recommendation on a good venilated shoe.

I couldn't justify the S-works ($360) so I bought the Specialized Comp Road ($150). It seems plenty ventilated, but then again I've been wearing very non-vented MTB shoes.

Specialized Comp are well ventilated. I ride regularly in the summer in 100-110 degree weather and my feet are always dry. I also wear Feetures socks if it matters.

$360, ouch! Thanks for the info on the S-works guys but thats a little out of my price range. $150 is more like it so I will research them. Also do you recommend going without socks?
You want a thin summer-weight sock. Competitive Cyclist had (has?) some Castelli socks on sale, 3 pr for $12. They are near-mesh on top, thin full coverage on the bottom. I love 'em. |

Northwave aerlite has lots of mesh and toe vents. Realcyclist has them on sale for $107 if you have narrow to normal width feet. You could always get a pair of cycling sandals. There's a guy locally that averages 18-20 mph in a pair, without socks, so they could be your best bet for summer.

Sounds like the Specialized S-Works are the ones I will look for first with all recommendations so far. Maybe like bsektzer said, I might be able to get some on sale.I will also check out the other shoes you guys are talking about too. I think it is going to be one hot summer so I am going to start checking out my options. You guys have led me in the right direction so far with this road cycling so I will difinitely take into consideration all the shoes that was mentioned.
