NBD - Matte Black / Celeste Bianchi Infinito

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

NBD - Matte Black / Celeste Bianchi Infinito

Here are some photos of my new bike, a Matte Black / Celeste Bianchi Infinito with Ultegra hardware.

I'm upgrading from a 6 year old Felt Z-6, 105.

I've only had two very short rides, so my initial impressions are just that.

In no particular order:

* the Bianchi feels a bit larger than the Felt. Both are 55s.
* the shifting is quick and precise; I may need new cables on the Felt
* the sensation of power transfer is unlike anything I've felt before. Hard to quantify, but it just feels like more of my effort is translated into forward motion
* I think I notice the smoothness of the Counter-Vail tech, but I've been riding my aluminum bike for a couple of weeks, so hard to compare to the Felt
* it's not Celeste (see this thread for more on that) but it is a very striking bike!
* the concerns about the matte finish appear valid. Look at some of the close up photos and you can see the discoloration/staining

Couple of other things.

There are two dimples in the top bar. Manufacturing artifact or defect?

There seems to be more grease than I would expect where the fork attaches.

Overall impression?

I love it!

If by 'dimples' you mean the two things above the "INFINITO" decal, those are just dust nibs in the matte clear. Nothing to worry about.

And yeah, matte is pretty much a sponge, so the grease will migrate into it like that.

Nice bike!
