The true measure of Mt. Doom

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The true measure of Mt. Doom

Mt. Doom (my nickname for Pine Hill, the hill my house sits on) is a one mile climb that ascends 380 vertical feet. This AM I burned 120 Kj's (calories for all you Freds @ home) over that one mile according to the Powertap. I went back over all my race files and the highest Kj/mile burn rate I could come up with was about 40 Kj/mi., and that includes TTs.

And that was going easy. Jamming up that hill I can burn 140 Kjs.

This may mean hills are harder than flats. I may publish my findings in a Pcad White Paper.

A local disturbance in the Force create by Pcad's magnificence could cause a reduction in the gravitational constant.

I propose we petition the U.S. Geological Service to rename Pine Hill in your honor.

That's just what you get for starting your ride by coasting for a mile.

You just answered your own question. The reason you are slow is because you need more mental training.
Under forced exertion, the Kj figure far exceeds your TT Kj........that simply means that you are not giving it your all mentally, and shy away from self induced suffering.
Don't be so down on yourself, I believe in you! You are a Champ in my book!

You should ride more miles.

A priest, a rabbi, and an imam walked into a bar.

The bartender looks up and says, "Is this some kind of joke?"
