Pedal Spindle Length
Being that I can't stand my squeaky Keo's any more, I'm in the market for a new pedal and the Ritchey Echelon caught my eye. I like that it uses Keo cleats which are readily available and I like the fact I haven't read anything about chronic squeaking problems. Other than the noise my Keo's are great.
Looking at the pedal, it looks like it has a MUCH longer spindle than the Looks & Shimanos I've used before. Is this in fact the case, or am I overestimating the difference? With the trend moving toward BB30 to narrow the Q-angle, or whatever it's called, wouldn't a long-spindled pedal negate this advantage? Any input from those with experience/knowledge about the Ritchey pedals is appreciated. |
BB30 doesnt narrow the Q. Spindle length has a big effect on knees more than anything else so you are right to ask the question. I have no experience of that pedal system tho i'll leave now

Haven't owned either but I'm not seeing a big difference. Shimano SPD-SL pedals look quite a bit narrower than these two.
