double fd on a triple crank

like the title says i got a 105 double fd off of ebay, its a new take off. threw it on my 2300 triple cranks.... ive got it going but it seems a a bit on the rough side (quite a bit of chain rub on both ends of the sprectrum.

ive removed about 5 links and have it pointed out to help with shifting, i plan on getting a new crankset eventually here, but hope this gets me a long for a while.

so any tips?

It won't work well with your little ring. Triple specific FD's are deeper/wider allowing the chain to ride "lower" relative to the big ring.

my little do you mean middle ring. i forgot to add that i dont use my granny gear anyways thats why i threw on the double fd. i only intend to use the middle and large rings

That'll help. Chain lines are still a little different with the outer two rings of a triple vs a double due to the Q factor; i.e. your big/big combo would have a worse chain line with the triple as the chainring is further from the BB with the triple.
