Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

PBK Special on Tires

Conti GP 4000s order 6 with "RetailMeNot15" and pay 37.65 per tire. Maybe not record setting, but a pretty good deal.

Thats a really good deal for us state side.

Cost in the US is $37.50/tire for a distributor, coupon code is a kind of bittersweet funny FU to state side MAP policy with Conti US.

Not bad for 2012. I think I paid $29 each for the ones I have now, but that was a year ago.

Probably a good time to stock up for those whose shelves are going bare.

That's a lot of tires considering you'll get at least 2,000 miles out of the rear. So apparently BF either likes to stock up for >1 year, or you guys ride more than I thought...

You should get roughly 3K per tire, slightly more in front.

So half a dozen will typically last 1 year, assuming approx 10K miles/year.

YMMV.

really we are talking about 21 days... time to complete LTdF with miles to spare... totally realistic.

Well, with the training bike, the race bike, the rain bike and the TT bike, you never can tell when you will need more tires... Really though, if you've got shelf space, why not stock up? The tires are good unlikely to become out-dated. Although I wonder if you would need to pay attention to storage to avoid dry-rot or something if you are storing them for a year...
