Road biking ... I've been reading articles in "Bicycle" magazine and in my opinion, the best part of the magazine ... is the "Love" section. I am new to cycling, having picked it up from my father, and find myself chuckling and nodding at the comments in the magazine. Cycling happens to benefit one's physical health, but by far, it does so much more for the mind. The fact that cycling makes me healthier is only an added bonus. I read everyones' articles and I nod my head in agreement, sometimes in disagreement. Yet, I always feel a bond with that cyclist, having never met them ... even if I don't agree with what they've written. I suppose what I'm trying to say is ... now that I've "melded" into the world of steel, carbon, aluminum, and titanium ... whether it's with other riders on the road or on a forum, it's all with a love for cycling. :-)
Hope this makes sense ... *shrug* I'm just a 20 year old kid, having cycled for the past few months on a constant daily, or every other day basis. Well, back to the road,
Paul a.k.a. SilverGrin.

thanks for the post...

This board is sooo barren, I was surprised to see someone actually post a message here. I am in total agreement with you. I feel the same way when Bicycling comes around every month. I literally devour the magazine and I have to go and ride RIGHT NOW!! I've found another way to inspire myself, I subscribed to Velonews. With it's emphasis on racing, it goads me with more challenges, faster riding or longer distances. Now if it wasn't so dog-gone Hot outside...

ProCycling and CycleSport are great mags too, my favorites.
Way cool photos too, besides the great articles.

I couldn't agree with you more! I love the culture and diversity that comes along with biking. It brings people who are otherwise completely different together. When something that beautiful happens it just makes the world a better place to be a part of.

Your thread made perfect sense, thank you for posting

Most optimistic thread all winter. Your happiness makes me happy. I hope all the BF grumps come to this thread and feel a little better.

I don't even remember posting that. It's like an out of body experience!

I was so....earnest...back then. :o

I heard that after this original flurry of optimism, the OP lost his religion and now makes a habit of beating everyone up about not wearing cycle helmets and railing against BD.

BUMP! yay 2008!

And I could't agree more myself. I might just add the following:

You officially get the Lazarus of the DECADE award. Responding to an 8 year old post... Come on, try something recent.

Cycling truly is great to me too. I am most content on a 70 degree day. On the flat section of my training ride, on the smoothest and newest road in town. Barely working, yet still going 25. All I hear is the hum of my tires and the squeak of my left shoe. I wave as I meet other cyclist, and instantly an unspoken comradery is formed.
