Why would smaller hands be an impediment to double tap? You can adjust the levers closer to the bar on SRAM, which is nice I guess. Are you saying it's a matter if not being able to shove the lever over far enough to the side? I guess that's why test rides are important.

Yes, it was a long reach to be able to shift. I had to bend my wrists quite a bit. If I had to purchase an SRAM bike, I would probably get used to it. But since I already have Shimano and plan on riding both bikes, sticking with Shimano makes sense for me. YMMV.

The levers are adjustable. If they weren't adjusted in for your smaller hands, you should go back and ask them to adjust them for you.

I was in a similar predicament recently and choose neither. I ended up making the switch from SRAM to a Campy Super Record group. So far I'm extremely pleased with the switch.

I ordered from Shiny Bikes and was able to save quite a bit over the new Red going rate. Not sure if you have any interest in throwing Campy into the mix (I wasn't for quite a while), but I'm really happy I did.

I would like to hear what you think are the differences. I have a 2006 Campy Chorus triple and would like to replace it with a compact. I am going back and forth between Campy Record and SRAM Red. Record would cost me a little less plus I wouldn't need to re-dish my wheels.

From someone who rides and adores SRAM Red, get Di2. E-shifting is every bit as sweet as you'd expect.

Well folks, the die is cast. The best ETA I can get on the SRAM 2012 Red is end of April (maybe) - mid May (more likely). That just isn't going to cut it.

So, my new Ultegra Di2 group (with the exact crank set, BB, and cassette I want) will ship out tomorrow.

Just to clarify, most of my interest in the Red group due to the double-tap shifting and the improvements SRAM has made in their FD. A couple hundred grams or so either way isn't going to mean much to my riding style.

Thanks
