Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wilier...finally here

No, its not the uber sexy TwinFoil..that will have to live on my desktop for now.

Got the Izoard last week after a long wait and loving it. After a 7yr run on my trusty aluminum Lemond, this is a nice upgrade. With SRAM Force all around except Rival brakes. Rides beautifully so far (less than 60 miles so far), especially turns. Coming from a solid, troublefree and smooth 105 with Tiagra shifters, I was a tad worried about getting used to SRAM and its feel. No worries…I love the feel of the small hood and shifters, in spite of large hands. I did attempt to click the brakes initially for moving to the big cog, but after a couple of rides, got used to the natural, sweeping throw of the SRAMs double tap. I could definitely feel the crisper and immediate shifting of the Force, as opposed to the silent, smooth 105s. I wasn’t looking for major weight savings...(the engine can easily stand to lose 15 pounds gained over the last year!) just a better groupset, so I don’t have to worry about upgrades for a while. And this fit the bill well in terms of fit, geometry, aesthetics and value.

I might tweak the seat up a bit once I get some miles in …but right now all seems well, and within my specs. Of course, the temps dropped down to the 40s and 50s this week, after a run in the 60-70s last couple of weeks. And they started to repave my primary access road outside. Oh well, time to HTFU, I guess.

Nice ride, i was considering the Gran Turismo or Izoard last year when i purchased a bike. Didn't go with either but they were high on my list. Enjoy it!

I was close to buying the Blk/Red version from CC last year. Too bad they ran out of size.

Congrats dude.

Got it from CC, as there aren't too many retailers nearby. And everything I read about CC turned out to be true...they are a really fine set of knowledgeable blokes. Very easy to deal with and very flexible. I changed the specs a few times and they were cool with that.
