To the spring noobs....this should make things easier
The 41's Fred-o-meter has hit the seasonal high and it's only fitting these be posted to save us some face palming.
Please reference the Rules before posting. We've all been there before. Some of you might wonder what the "rule #" references are, these are it. Veterans, the list has been amended, please adjust accordingly |
I'm no veteran 41-er myself, so I just have one question: how did this board get the name 41? I always just assumed it was from a now-obsolete forum URL numbering system...

^^^41 is the number assigned to road cycling on bike forums
|
Herp-derp! *smacks forehead* okay so I was right about the URL numbering system, except for the "now obsolete" part. Thanks :P
Interestingly, the trails in East Orlando (namely the Little Econ Trail) seem more devoid of cyclists (new or veteran alike) than ever, but filled to the brim with families and little kids who seem to be deaf, no matter how loudly I announce my presence. I stick to the roads these days. |
I stopped announcing, it causes panic, last time I had to shout instruction on where they should go...I'd rather just plow and murder them rather than watch their simple minds panic

Wabbit season. Duck season. ... ... ... Fred season. Signed, RTFred |
I just call out "heads up" when im far away enough for them to turn their heads and choose a side. I find "on your left" just confuses noobs

re: "Rule #10 It never gets easier, you just go faster."
mirrors my thoughts that humans possess an urge to work to the highest potential even when they don't have to. case in point, computers were supposed to make us more productive and so we would have more leisure time. well, we're still work-a-holics regardless of how much we get done. it's human nature to fill our day. it's human nature to try as hard as you can. thus it never gets easier, you just go faster. |

Do you know what the term "Fred" means?
I don't think it means what you think it means. |

I finally read all of the rules to the end, and enjoyed them thoroughly, LMAO; while I know many are a little tongue-in-cheek, I recognize the heartfelt spirit behind them, as well. I must admit that I never plan to follow at least two of them:
"Rule #11 Family does not come first. The bike does" - Family always comes first. And I am not blowing them off if I spend 3 hours on the bike on a shared day-off... I will always put them first, and spend more time with wife and/or child when I can. "Rule #33 Shave your guns" -Sorry, but I'm not a racer; I ride a road bike for fitness, recreation, enjoyment, and the challenge to get better and faster, and I usually ride alone, since I am normally have to work the weekends, when all of the group rides take place. If I ever found myself in competition, I might consider it, but as long as the status remains quo, my bear legs shall not be bare... |
